The Friends of Spirit - we chose the name because most, if not all, of the money raised would come from within Spiritualist Churches and Psychic clubs and groups.
We began by wanting to raise £500 for a local hospice in Hartlepool, Cleveland, as Angie’s mother had spent some time there and was well looked after. I am a Spiritual Medium and Psychic Artist so I asked a couple of Spiritualist Churches if we could hold charity events for the hospice.
One day, whilst staying with friends in Blackpool, we were walking from Central Pier towards Central Drive when we passed a hotel with some of the Blackpool illuminations attached to it and a wishing well at the front. When we arrived back at our friends’ house I asked what this hotel was. It was then that I heard the amazing story of Len and Barbara Curtis’ daughter Donna. The very next day we made an appointment to see Len Curtis and asked if he would allow us to raise some money for the charity.
It is our pleasure and privilege to be part of such a wonderful team of volunteers, helping to bring joy to others, and on behalf of all those that we class as the Friends of Spirit, we say thank you for allowing us to help in bringing such joy, and we look forward to many more successful years together doing just that.
At a special fundraising event attended by Len and Barbara in Chorley, Lancashire, just before Christmas 2007, we raised £1,000 and more events followed.
We have now passed the £150,000 mark (yes, £150k !!) Thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve this.
