WELCOME!

The Queen's Award for

Voluntary Service 2006

Donna's Dream House is proudly supporting the Torbay Holiday Helpers' Network -

a new charity providing holidays for families with seriously or terminally ill children.

The Donna’s Dream House Charity in Blackpool is a locally based trust providing free holiday

experiences for children and teenagers with life-threatening illnesses and their families, and for

recently bereaved siblings and their families.

Whilst the voluntary team of Donna’s Dream House provides the expertise, enthusiasm and

administration, it is the generosity of many companies, organisations and individuals in raising and

donating money, that makes it possible to bring not only sunshine and fun into children’s lives, but a

sense of wonder, adventure, laughter and much needed holidays in Blackpool for the whole family.

As Donna’s Dream House is operated by volunteers only, the administration cost is about 1% to cover

legal requirements. (Click HERE to see our details on the Charity Commission website). So 99p of each

pound raised is used to provide the holidays and accommodation costs plus related support work.

We would like to thank everyone for their kind donations - without your support we would not be able to keep Donna's Dream House going. Through many generous donations it has been possible for us to expand and bring the same joy to teenagers with serious illnesses and for their families to capture some happy memories.

This website will tell you all about Donna's Dream House, the facilities and the process of nominating a family who could benefit from a holiday in Blackpool.

If you are coming to stay with us, you should be able to find lots of information about Donna's Dream House and Blackpool in general, to help you plan how to get the most from your stay. And, you can read a bit about some of our guests.

LATEST NEWS!

Thanks to the generosity of many people and organisations, guests at Donna's Dream House will be having even more fun this year! On Saturday 13th February, the new 12-seater cinema was opened as part of the "Open House" event. Visitors toured the house and grounds, and admired the hot tub & sauna that was opened last summer. A real-live fairy horse and carriage took the younger visitors (and some older ones!) on a short tour of Blackpool, and a great time was had by all.

The cinema has games that play on the large screen, including a Nintendo Wii, but "Spongebob the Movie" was the favourite that afternoon!

The grand opening of the cinema, and Len Curtis shows two youngsters that his guitar playing really is superbly... er... rubbish!

The original hand-wound carousel in the garden dates from the 1940s and has been restored to working order. The horse and fairy carriage waits outside the Dream House gates, and Len shows Eloise and Bethany a refurbished guest room. Construction starts soon on even more facilities - watch this space!
